Mondays are atrocious too. Usually, when your in-box is full of unread emails you start deleting them by bulk, and unless your headline “SCREAMS OPEN” you best be ready for the trash box.

That leaves you with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday which are the three best days to send email.

Secondly, the time of day is critical for boosting your open rate. If you send the message to early you’ll be jumbled up in the clutter, and if you send the message too late it want get read until the following day. The optimal time range to send emails is between 10:00am and 2:00pm.

I know this may seem a little geeky, but the stats are solid. Nonetheless, here’s a little trick to combat the issue. Try sending emails twice a day, once at 10am and again at 6pm, this will help magnify the urgency to your reader.

Thirdly, use power words, controversial phrases, and outrageous remarks to get your email open immediately! For example, “SEO is DEAD!” would raise more than a few hairs if you’re a search engine marketer. This remark is both controversial and outrageous which makes it a double positive.

Also, try adding quotes (” “) and asterisks to drawn attention to your headline. Remember, when in doubt… shout, be different and creative.

Finally, try using the reader’s name in the subject line. It’s a proven fact people open emails that deliver a personal touch, even when the subject line sucks. For some odd reason, human nature still has its role in this technical world, and a person’s name is the ultimate human touch.

In conclusion, start building your list and implementing the power of email marketing. It’s how all the gurus make a ton of money every year, while everyone else wrestle over the scraps.
